I love the idea of a tree of contemplative practice. At Schumacher College there is a majestic Horse Chestnut Tree that stands proudly on the front lawn. She is a very wise member of the community, a revered contributor of the teaching faculty and an elder (not to be confused with an Elder), who is always available for contemplative practices.
